NEW COMMITMENT
A New Year opens up and we walk into it with,
perhaps, mixed emotions and different expectations. We should take care of the needs and feelings
around us and within us; whether hurting or hopeful, fearful or cheerful, content
or weary, confused or broken-hearted, eager or struggling.
Whatever our New Year hopes and fears, we need
to find new commitment if we are to keep the faith in the One who is ‘God with
us’ (Matthew ch 1 v 23) and who goes ahead of us saying “follow me” (Matthew
ch 9 v 9).
Our new Sunday morning series is in the gospel
of Matthew. Here we are encouraged to trust
the call of Jesus and to make a new commitment to God, in all that we are going
through and for all that lies ahead.
Most of all we find the new commitment God is
always making to us in the life of Jesus; for this year and every other, for
each doubt and dread, for each joy and sorrow, we have Jesus, God with us.
