The Christian church is
where we encourage people to come to a place where they can believe in
God and belong together in his family.
OUR BAPTIST FAMILY…
Baptist Churches are found in
almost every country in the world. As part of the world-wide Christian
Church, Baptist Christians form one of the largest families of faith - 37
million people are members of Baptist Churches.
For Baptists the concept of a 'family' is important. The Church
is not so much a particular place or building, but rather a family of believers,
committed to God and serving him in the world.
In the Baptist family everybody is equal, for everybody has a part to
play in the service of God. Baptists are very much grass-roots people
with a special emphasis on the local Church. Each local Baptist Church
is self-governing and self-supporting. Its life and work is organised
in accordance with the values we share and the needs of each community as
we try to do our best for God. Our Church is a member of the Baptist Union of Great
Britain. Baptist Churches come together in local, regional, national
and international spheres to promote and support our life together and the
work we do. In Buckhurst Hill we have good links with Baptist Churches
in London and Essex.
THE WIDER CHRISTIAN FAMILY…
We are Christians in a Baptist
Church but of course we recognise that not all Christians are Baptists!
Therefore, we try to foster good relationships with our Christian friends
in other Churches and traditions.
Our Church is very much part of Churches Together in Buckhurst Hill.
The local congregations - and their leaders - meet regularly to worship and
pray together. We also work together in all sorts of ways for the
benefit of our neighbourhood and as partners in the gospel.
